I'm here because although I enjoy what I've put together so far on this planet, it'd be so much more fun with two! I spend way too much time working, but I love what I do and still manage to keep myself amused both at work and at play. I can be very happy either watching the snow from some place warm, or playing in it, and have been known to make naked snow angels. I also love tattoos and I run a lot. Also, I just moved to Boulder to live with my english grad student best friend for life. So I know relatively nobody and I haven't the slightest idea how to navigate this place. But there are mountains! That makes up for everything else.

However, I'm a bit wary about my fondness of running and becoming accustomed to the altitude of the mountains. I'm from the flat, almost sea level lands of Illinois. So if you see me passed out on a street corner due to the lack of oxygen in my blood, take pity and resist the urge to run over, bike over, or step on my head. I hate trying to describe myself in a paragraph. I mean really, what the hell are we supposed to say here? Have our lives become so complicated that we don't have enough time to actually socialize anymore? That everything is reduced to filling out some sort of form, or info box with their perception of how other people see them. So,I am going to do my best to give you my perception on how I think people see me.

I am a very active individual and do some sort of physical activity on a daily basis. I am an avid snowboarder and would definitely like you to be the same, or at least be willing to give it a try. I am outgoing, outspoken and definitely been known to speak my mind, sometimes at the wrong time, but always entertaining.

I can be a bit sarcastic at times, so a sense of humor is a must. I have just moved to the area from Los Angeles and looking for people to hang out with and then see where it goes from there. Originally from New Jersey, I moved to Boulder, CO in 1975, where I now own a high-tech company. I am very secure with my life and the direction it's going. I am strong-willed, determined, confident, but also very sensitive, caring and not afraid to show my emotions. Although I'm not religious, I deeply value my Jewish "roots", but have leanings toward Eastern Philosophy. I am very passionate about the people and things I love. Ever since I decided to take a chance and change the pace of my life by moving over 3 years ago I have been looking for a girl to share my experiences and time with. I am a self-proclaimed nerd and/or geek. I love science fiction, written and visual. I love reading it, watching it, and writing it. I have created several different sci-fi universes, with detailed descriptions of people, events, cultures, societies, militaries, and governments. I was an anthropology major in college, so I spend most of my time building cultures and histories, rather than creating characters or technologies.

I am very religious - I was born Episcopalian, and being a part of the Episcopal Church is a huge part of my identity. It informs my politics, my philosophy, and my view on the world. I believe in equal rights for all people, that homosexuality is a natural part of the human condition, that women have the right to control their own bodies, and that the Republican party and the Religious Right are about as far from the Gospel as you can possibly imagine.

I am a freshman in college and loving it. With so much opportunity to explore all my different intersts, I'm short on time but not on fun. I try to have lots of experiences and stories so that I don't get bored. Independence is important to me in myself and others...and...yeah...that's all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

I understand viscerally that I am going to die. Since I get, what, 100 years, at the outside, I want to have as much fun and do as many different things as possible while I can. I don't need to skydive, or bungee jump, or do meth, but I refuse to be bored.

Hello, my name is James. I am a 22 year old college student currently taking time off from school to recuperate from 2 surgeries resulting in nerve damage. I decided to take a break and kind of recover mentally from the whole situation. When I'm in school, I'm a psych major at UNC and emergency medicine at AIMS. I hope to do therapy for patients with chronic pain (it's hard for people to understand unless they've been through it). I've been a snowboarder for about 8 years, but haven't been able to for about 2 because of surgeries. I'm trying to get back in to snowboarding and would be down with someone that can kick it on the mountain and be able to decently. I love sushi, concerts, being very nerdy, and generally chilling. Im not looking for more than friendship at this point. I can't say much more about myself, i'm pretty introverted. I've been through a LOT of fucked up shit in a couple years and mostly keep to myself. But I can say I love strong women. I'm a Northern Californian finishing up my environmental engineering doctorate in Colorado. The last five years living here has been great. I am thoroughly impressed with the variety of scenes in Denver and Boulder. I think of myself as a discriminating appreciator of the best that human experience can offer. Thus, the range of experiences which makes me happy/excited is diverse. I don't typically rely on others rules for guidance, leading to problems as well as unusually experience. Similarly, I don't feel that I fit into any box too well, but people seem to try to "catalog" me based on the context that they know me. I believe that I'm somewhat complex, and thus have the luxury of being naturally completely open while maintaining some enigmatic qualities. But don't all of, Americans especially, want to be unique "snowflake". Really, I'm just one of 6.8 billion very similar humans.

Once upon a time I got a black belt in Taekwando, and for a while in college studying philosophy I was learning to be a blacksmith... not that black belts and blacksmiths are necessarily related. I like good beer, especially with live music and/or a game of pool. Then again, if we happen to be out enjoying some good music, a game of pool, some beer I'll probably be that much more likely to connect the dots between martial arts, blacksmithing and philosophy/Buddhist practices.

For me this means hanging out with friends and family, playing games, having conversations that can span the spectrum from deep to shallow, making & sharing good food, spending time in the outdoors (getting muddy & dirty as hell every once in a while), going to shows, all that kinda good stuff.

I'm also one of those folks who cares deeply about what they do and wants to change the world. Not in a big flashy kinda way, but rather in small & shiny kinds of ways. Mostly by helping people, which at the moment means working as a college admissions counselor and volunteering as a chaplain.

Personality-wise Iâ??m pretty down to earth while also being pleasantly dorky (i.e. caring and gentle while also retaining a mischievous and irreverent, if slightly punny, sense of humor). Iâ??ve got a big deep laugh that Iâ??m proud of, even if it causes me some embarrassment from time to time.

I love traveling and thus meeting new people, cultures and points of view. I like hanging out with my friends (although I still do not know that many people in Colorado), watching movies, reading books and generally doing most anything if the company is right. I also like teasing people, usually in funny friendly ways since most people do not mind and I have even made friends this way, however, I have been known to put my foot dead center in my mouth on occasion.

I like basketball, swimming, football (ok, ok I mean soccer) and scuba diving a lot and since I am now in Colorado I enjoy hiking and skiing although I am still not very good in the latter. I also want to get better at salsa and maybe take on some tango, but I usually enjoy staying in as much as hitting the clubs for the weekend, or going out for a nice dinner. I love being silly and joking around but I feel I tend to go for the deeper conversations & good arguments rather than casual chit chatting but it also depends what feeling and how well I know the other person. I also love music and wished I had started on an instrument when I was younger. I love all kinds of music from rock to opera and enjoy going to concerts or bars with live music.

I'm a bit eccentric I started studying aerospace engineering was bored by atmospheres so moved on to electrical and now pursue my own research while I finish my degree and build support for my ideas.

I love traveling I have been to more countries than I can remember off the top of my head. I particularly enjoyed my time in Greece though. I am very much a nerd, although I try for more the Indiana Jones type. I am a trained open water diver, have collected molten lava off of an active flow on the big island of Hawaii, hiked to the top of Delphi in 43 degree (Celsius) heat, exactly as fun as it sounds. Explored Mayan and Aztec ruins. Lots of stuff and I feel silly listing it.

I miss a time when a man was chivalrous as a rule not an exception. I often feel anachronistic as if I would be much more at home it a fictitious romanticized version of Renaissance Europe or ancient Rome. Alas that time and place never truly existed so it's really not worth lamenting even if it is fun to think about.

Hello there. I recently moved back to Boulder area from Denver, but still work downtown Denver. I love LIFE. I am hearing impaired and use hearing aids and know ASL I work out 6 days a week at a gym and take good care of my health. I have a 16 year old son that is just totally rockin! I'm spiritual but not religious. I split with my long term relationship last year after trying to make it work for way to long. I like athletes. I don't like makeup. I've been known to wander trails for weeks without a shower, but I can also wear a suit. I've spent more than a year of my life on a camping pad, but I still appreciate the comfort of a warm bed. I can dance across rocks like a mountain goat, but I dance on a dance floor like a fish out of water. Life's better when the sun is up, but there's also fun to be had after Helios stows his chariot.

I'm a fairly outdoorsy kind of guy. I do a lot of cyclocross/riding, a lot of climbing, and a whole of of just running around with friends outdoors or around town. Being able to combine my love of biking or climbing with spending time and drinking beers with friends is possibly the best way, in my opinion, to spend a day. That or just hanging out with the cats on the back porch and watching them frolic in the garden. There isn't a whole lot that can beat a nice warm evening that has just enough light to let the cats see the flying birds and chatter at them while I drink my beer and laugh about it with friends.
I also love my video games though - I was a fat nerd growing up, and there's a little of that still; but I shed a quarter of my body weight when I moved out to Colorado. I still love my video games and nerdly pursuits (board games, games in general, reading, and watching documentaries) even if I look like a meathead. Hopefully I don't look like a meathead, though. I've worked hard to get rid of the fat, even if I act a little self-conscious about my weight or complain that I'm "just so fucking fat." I think I could possibly stand to lose some more of the beer gut though. I hate having to lug around this pooch.
I am also a fairly accomplished cook if my friends are to be believed. It doesn't help the whole "eat less and exercise" when one of your passions is cooking up rich, delicious meals and indulging in good food and drink with friends. I guess that's what helps drive my intense exercise regimen. Live hard, exercise hard?
Currently I am a postdoctoral researcher looking to origins of life using liquid crystalline DNA and discovering new phases of matter in the context of soft materials. I am still a nerdy guy.

I was just browsing through and got sucked in to creating a profile. I sort of swore off this mode of meeting folks a while ago but I'm back. What can I say? I'm a glutton for punishment. Reading and writing is important to me- I find that reading, but especially writing, tends to bring out people's observational skills. Life looks differently to someone who sees the potential and/ or meaning in the small occurrences; not bouncing from one reaction to the next, but being able to note some small piece of human behavior or a fleeting situation through their own filter.
